Schiff for Senate Seeks Deputy Organizing Director - Relational Organizing
We are seeking a dedicated, energetic, and experienced Deputy Organizing Director to oversee our parts of our Relational Organizing Program. This person will be the driving force behind hosting in-person relational organizing events, assisting with online events, and leading the recruitment and training of local volunteer leaders.
Deputy Organizing Director - Relational Organizing Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Collaborate with the Organizing Director to develop a comprehensive strategy for the relational organizing program. This includes identifying key opportunities for engagement, developing timelines, setting objectives, and monitoring progress.
- Event Management: Organize and facilitate high-quality in-person and online relational organizing events. Ensure smooth logistics, meaningful content, and positive participant experiences.
- Volunteer Leadership Development: Identify, recruit, train, and manage local volunteer leaders. Build a strong volunteer leadership program that empowers individuals to contribute effectively to our campaign and increases our capacity to engage with diverse communities.
- Training: Develop and implement an effective training program for volunteers. Ensure all volunteers are well-equipped to represent the campaign, understand our platform, and can effectively engage with their networks and local communities.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within the campaign to ensure the relational organizing program aligns with broader campaign strategies and goals.
- Data Management and Reporting: Oversee data collection and reporting related to relational organizing activities. Utilize data to inform strategies, make adjustments as necessary, and demonstrate program effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders involved in the program including volunteers, participants, community leaders, and campaign staff.
Job Requirements
- At least 3 years or two campaign cycles of experience in community organizing, campaign work, or related roles, preferably in a leadership position.
- Proven track record of managing successful relational organizing programs.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and management.
- Excellent event planning and management skills.
- Strong understanding of data-driven campaigning and ability to analyze and apply data insights to strategies.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances or requirements.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for organizing.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as campaign needs dictate.
Logistics

- Salary: $6k – $8k per month based on experience

- Location: Burbank, CA or San Francisco / Bay Area, CA
The Deputy Organizing Director will report directly to the Organizing Director and work closely with them to realize the campaign’s vision and objectives. The ideal candidate is passionate about community engagement, highly organized, and driven to inspire others to action.
